When it comes to taking care of yourself and your home naturally, lemons are a great way to go. They can be used in the kitchen, as part of your beauty regimen, and even for small cuts and scrapes.
Read on to learn how to incorporate lemons into your daily routine:
ELIMINATE ODORS IN YOUR FRIDGE
A great way to eliminate odors your refrigerator is to place some lemon juice on a cotton ball or sponge and leave it in the fridge for some time.
SANITIZE YOUR CUTTING BOARD
Cutting boards are a haven for undesirable odors. Using half a lemon and rubbing on the surface of the cutting board will go a long way in removing odors and sanitizing the surface. Washing the board directly in lemon juice will also do the trick.
CLEAN THE MICROWAVE EASILY
An easy way to clean the interior of your microwave is to heat 1 1/2 cups of water in a bowl mixed with 3 tablespoons of lemon juice on high for 5-10 minutes. The steam produced by the water in the microwave will loosen any food particles, which can be wiped away easily.
DEODORIZE GARBAGE DISPOSAL
Keeping your sink smelling fresh is as easy as saving lemon (or even orange) peels, putting them down the drain, and turning on the disposal.
KEEP RICE FROM STICKING TOGETHER
Does your rice stick together when you cook it? To prevent this, add a spoon of lemon juice when the water boils, and fluff rice with a fork after you finish cooking it.
STERILIZE CUTS AND SCRAPES
Applying a few drops of lemon juice directly on wound will stop bleeding and disinfect it.
MAKE WHITES WHITER
Next time you launder your whites, try adding lemon juice directly to the water. This will brighten and freshen your whites.
CREATE A SCENT + HUMIDIFIER
Simmer a pot of water on the stove and add lemon peels, along with ingredients like cinnamon sticks and apple skins. This will serve to fill your home with a fresh scent as well as humidify the air on a dry day.
