When you think of California Wine Country, Sonoma Valley is not far behind Napa. It also boasts lush green hills, wineries, great dining, and quaint charm.

At the heart is Sonoma Plaza, just under three square miles of various restaurants, wine rooms, shopping, and a large park situated in the center for the kiddos to play and the family to unwind.

Sonoma is about 14 miles away from Napa, so it’s also possible to visit both in the same trip.

The entire plaza, as well as the nearby Mission San Francisco Solano and General Vallejo’s Home are all within walking distance of each other. These two places are great destinations to visit in order to learn more about the history of Sonoma Valley and the people who helped found the city.
