Title: Perfect Is Boring: 10 Things My Crazy, Fierce Mama Taught Me About Beauty, Booty, and Being a Boss

By: Tyra Banks and Carolyn London

The Skinny: Supermodel and businesswoman Tyra Banks collaborates with her mother, Carolyn London to dish about all things business, goal-setting, body positivity, Tyra’s rise to superstardom, and more than one NSFW topic (insert girlish giggle here).

The Pros: I love how this book doesn’t beat around the bush when it comes to talking to your daughter about her first period (throw her a “period party”!), the birds and the bees (do it while on a train ride–that way she can’t run away!) about pushing past career obstacles, or even London’s painful past abusive relationships, and what she has learned from them.

The Cons: As the book is meant to be a casual conversation between Tyra and her mom, and occasionally to the reader, it can sometimes veer off course, as conversations do. It’s not a really big deal though.

The Bottom Line: My oh my, this is a funny book! Perfect Is Boring is a no-holds barred, informal conversation between mother and daughter, and with you, the reader, on lots of things your own mother may not have told you so frankly. So buckle up and prepare yourself for some very unfiltered, yet very useful advice!

My sister got me this book for my birthday, and it was so hilarious! There is no way my mom would have had even half of these conversations with me, so it was fun to read through ❤
