BOOK REVIEW: THINK LIKE A MONK

If you happen to be further along in your self-improvement journey, this book may repeat many things you already know. But if you are new to this genre, Think Like A Monk is a good place to start.

Title: Think Like A Monk: Train Your Mind For Peace And Purpose Everyday

By: Jay Shetty

The Skinny: Jay Shetty, a former monk, walks the reader through his troubled adolescence in London, to his life-changing decision to enter an ashram in India against the wishes of his parents, to his return with no other plan than to share the truths he has uncovered with the world.

The Pros: The book is written in clear, concise language that is both simple and engaging. Its power lies in its accessibility; like many, Shetty started out as a regular kid who struggled to find purpose in life.

The Cons: If you happen to be further along in your self-improvement journey, this book may repeat many things you already know. But if you are new to this genre, Think Like A Monk is a good place to start.

The Bottom Line: A great read, with lots of nuggets of wisdom to enrich your life and help you find meaning in it. Anyone who has ever felt alone, stuck, confused, or frustrated about the bigger issues in life can relate to the author’s philosophy. So, that’s basically all of us!
