Title: Plate to Pixel: Digital Food Photography & Styling
By: Hélène Dujardin
The Skinny: Plate to Pixel is a colorful instruction manual of sorts which aims to teach many creative ways to display food. It explains the use of lighting techniques, as well as post-processing, for amateur and professional photographers alike. For example, some suggestions include the use of textured fabrics in the background and stray silverware and spices as additional props.
The Pros: Large, gorgeous, full-color photos in an easy-to-read format. Topics are explained in simple language and the accompanying photos illustrate the points well.
The Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: I have enjoyed food photography for sometime now. Although I don’t consider myself an expert in the kitchen, I absolutely love food and all the various ways it can be arranged. Plate to Pixel is a good resource for anyone who is still new to food photography or is looking to brush up on their technique.
I have this book 🙂 It’s got really great photos.
I plan to get this book and work through it. It’s always nice to look at the example of others to see how they do it. Thanks
Thanks for your comment and I’m glad my review helped. Best wishes for your food photography!
