With quarantine limiting where we can go and what we can do, hiking is a great option, especially for families.

We drove out to Coyote Hills Regional Park, the site of an ancient 2,400 year-old Ohlone village. We spent the day walking the trails and checking out the local bird population of herons, pelicans, ducks, seagulls, and even wild turkeys!

The trail has wild grass and marshes on either side, with the occasional tree under whose shade you can rest or stop for lunch. If you and your family wish to bike here, the trails are great for that as well.

Since we went on a Sunday, admission to the park was free, but normally the fee is $5 per vehicle. Masks and social distancing are required as well. There is lots of space to walk separately from others, so this shouldn’t be too difficult.

Time spent in nature is always time well spent!

How are you spending time outdoors during quarantine?
